Accessibility

The City of Coral Gables values the diversity of all its residents and visitors, and welcomes participation from all interested parties in its programs, services and activities, regardless of cultural identity or background. The city is committed to complying with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Florida Civil Rights Act and related laws. The city is committed to promoting the comprehensive realization of equal opportunity and equal access to all of its programs, services and activities regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, marital or family status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by law. The city will not tolerate any form of proscribed discrimination in any of its programs, services or activities. Further, the city will not tolerate any form of retaliation directed against an individual who complains of discrimination pursuant to this policy or who participates in any investigation concerning discrimination pursuant to this policy.

If you think you have been discriminated against or denied access to the city’s programs, services, or activities in violation of the city’s Title VI/Nondiscrimination or ADA policy, you may file a signed, written complaint with the city’s ADA coordinator within 30 days of the alleged discrimination. The procedure for filing a complaint is contained in the Non-discrimination Policy and in the Disability Non-Discrimination Policy.

The City of Coral Gables is committed to ensuring that all visitors and residents are able to access and use all of our programs, services, and activities. We recognize that many visitors and residents use our website to access information about what we offer and to obtain services.

We also recognize that users of the website who have disabilities may use the website with the assistance of technology, including screen readers and screen enlargement software, as well as with captioning, transcripts, and the use of other auxiliary aids and services. As outlined below, we want to provide users of our website with information about what we offer, ways to inform us of any difficulties encountered, alternative ways we can offer the services, the time frame for doing so, and who to contact if you encounter a problem.

The City is continually reviewing the website and implementing the Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) on the website’s content and elements. Nonetheless, our website offers a wide range of information and services, and we recognize that for users with disabilities, some material on our site may pose challenges. We are interested in hearing from users with disabilities. We want to know about your experiences. We want to address the challenges you identify.

To request a modification to a policy, practice or procedure or to request an auxiliary aide or service (such as a sign language interpreter) in order to participate in a city program, activity or event, please contact Clifford Friedman, the city's ADA Coordinator, at least seven (7) days in advance where circumstances permit. The ADA Coordinator may be reached by email: ADA@CoralGables.com, or by telephone: 305-722-8686 (voice) or 305-442-1600 (TTY/TDD).

Accessible City Services

Aira

The City of Coral Gables is now an Aira Access Partner! As part of our commitment to inclusivity, the city now offers two apps to enhance accessibility. Aira ASL provides on-demand American Sign Language interpreting for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Aira Explorer provides on-demand visual interpreting for individuals who are blind or have low vision.

Both services are free of charge to our community and available 24/7, 365 days a year. Simply open the Aira Explorer or Aira ASL app and connect with a professional interpreter who can facilitate communication and support independence.

Aira Explorer and Aira ASL are available at all locations within the geographic boundaries of Coral Gables. Coral Gables is the only city in the world to offer both apps to the entire geographic boundary. Download the Aira app
