Trash Pit Filling

The city can fill your trash pit to ground level. Once filled, you may continue using the trash pit for regular trash collection.

Trash Pit Decommissioning

Requests for trash pit decommissioning must be submitted by the property owner.

The city will decommission the property's trash pit as a one-time accommodation. This includes filling the pit and installing sod over the area.

Once the trash pit has been decommissioned, it can no longer be used for trash collection. The property owner will be responsible for maintaining the swale area in accordance with city code requirements.

To proceed with decommissioning your trash pit, please provide written confirmation that you understand and agree to these terms and authorize the city to complete the work.

Please help keep the community clean and report illegal dumping. Call the police non-emergency line at 305-442-1600 or send an email to CodeEnforcement@coralgables.com.

The City of Coral Gables launched a new Community Composting Program to help residents reduce food waste and support a healthier environment. Through this free drop-off program located at the Coral Gables Library, residents can divert organic waste from landfills and help create nutrient-rich compost. The program provides educational signage and compostable bags to encourage proper composting practices. By participating, residents can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil health, and support a more sustainable community.
