Tree of the Year Contest

Tree of the Year Contest

Welcome to the Tree of the Year contest! In celebration of the City of Coral Gables turning 100, the Landscape Beautification Advisory Board is requesting submissions for the tree you believe deserves to be designated the “Tree of the Year.” Winners will be announced at the city’s celebration of National Arbor Day, Friday, April 25, 2025. A prize will be awarded to the person who nominates the "winning" tree.

Why

This contest seeks to actively engage residents and promote awareness of the importance and preservation of trees in the city’s urban forest. Share with your friends, learn more, and get involved with green initiatives in the city.

Rules

  • Nominated trees should be easily visible from the street or from public areas, such as city right-of-way swales, parks, greenspaces, or residential front yards.
  • Please submit photos of the nominated tree along with a reason or explanation for the nomination. Reasons can include, but are not limited to, the tree's environmental, scientific, historical, or personal significance.
  • You can nominate more than one tree. Create a separate submittal form entry for each different tree. The option to upload additional photos in the form are for different photos of the same tree.
  • If the tree you are nominating is on a residential property, only the cross street is required.
  • The deadline for submittals is March 1, 2025.
