Yesenia Alfonso serves as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Coral Gables. She provides legal counsel and support to city departments on a variety of municipal matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, public records, procurement, and local government operations.

Prior to joining the City of Coral Gables, Alfonso served as Legal Counsel II for FedEx Corporation, where she advised on corporate, regulatory, employment, and operational matters. She also served as an Assistant County Attorney with the Broward County Attorney’s Office, providing legal counsel to the Broward County Aviation Department, including Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport. Her experience includes drafting and negotiating agreements, developing policies and procedures, reviewing public records requests, and advising on regulatory and operational issues.

While attending law school, she interned with the City Attorney’s Office, gaining firsthand experience in municipal law and local government operations.

She earned her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from St. Thomas University School of Law, where she graduated in the top five percent of her class and served on the St. Thomas Law Review. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, cum laude, from Florida International University.

Alfonso is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and is fluent in English and Spanish.
