As part of the City of Coral Gables' ongoing Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey (SSES), nighttime sewer flow testing will be conducted at select locations to evaluate wastewater flows throughout the collection system. The purpose of this testing is to identify areas where stormwater and groundwater may be entering the sewer system and to help the city prioritize sewer system improvements.
The city is working with Ardurra Group Inc. to perform these evaluations. Testing will be conducted during overnight hours when wastewater flows are at their lowest, allowing for more accurate measurement of inflow and infiltration (I/I) within the sewer system.
What to Expect
Testing will take place between approximately midnight and 5 a.m. Crews will access public sewer infrastructure through existing manholes and pump station facilities to perform flow measurements and drawdown testing.
Residents may notice personnel working near manholes and pump stations, along with lighting and monitoring equipment. Noise impacts are expected to be minimal. No excavation or heavy construction equipment will be used.
