Coral Gables Partners with Uruguay Consulate to Unveil “FANS” Exhibition
Coral Gables, FL – In celebration of the global excitement surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup in South Florida, the City of Coral Gables, in partnership with the Consulate of Uruguay in Miami, proudly presents FANS, an exhibition by acclaimed Uruguayan artist Daniel Supervielle exploring the passion, identity and collective energy of soccer enthusiasts around the world. The exhibition will open during Gallery Night on Friday, June 5, from 8 to 10 p.m. at Fink Studio, 2506 Ponce de Leon Blvd. and remain on view through July 2026. Admission is free and may be visited Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Through this exhibit, Supervielle transforms stadium crowds into vibrant compositions filled with movement, rhythm and emotion. His paintings capture the collective spirit of soccer supporters -- the chants, colors, rituals and shared experiences that make the sport a worldwide cultural phenomenon.
“Coral Gables is proud to celebrate the unifying power of art and sport through this international cultural collaboration with the Consulate of Uruguay,” said Mayor Vince Lago. “As our community prepares to welcome visitors from around the world for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, exhibitions like FANS highlight the cultural connections, passion and shared experiences that bring people together across borders and generations.”
Born in Uruguay in 1970, Supervielle studied painting at Taller Montevideo and later at Casablanca, the renowned school of Uruguayan artist Ignacio Iturria. For more than two decades, his work has explored football as a cultural and emotional phenomenon, with a particular focus on the energy and identity of fan communities.
The exhibition includes new works dedicated to the supporters of clubs connected to Uruguayan soccer legend Luis Suárez, as well as fans from the United States, Mexico and Canada in recognition of the 2026 FIFA World Cup host nations.
The exhibition continues Coral Gables’ tradition of international cultural programming and public art initiatives that celebrate global connections through creativity, community and shared experiences.
