City to Host Community Watch Party for UM Game

City of Coral Gables to Host Community Watch Party for UM vs. Indiana National Championship Game

CORAL GABLES, FL – The City of Coral Gables will host a free, family-friendly community watch party for the University of Miami vs. Indiana National Championship game on Monday, inviting residents and visitors to come together and cheer on the hometown Hurricanes. The watch party will begin at 5 p.m., with game kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at Ponce Circle Park, located at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Salamanca Avenue, directly across from The Plaza Coral Gables.

The event will feature a large outdoor screen measuring 7 x 15 meters (approximately 22 x 16 feet), generously provided and funded by The Plaza Coral Gables, which is also covering the broadcast rights for the game. All restaurants at The Plaza will be open during the event, allowing attendees to easily cross the street for food and beverages.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets to enjoy the game comfortably. The event is designed as a welcoming, family-friendly gathering for the community. Parking is readily available, with ample on-street parking in the surrounding area as well as nearby city garages. City trolley service will be operating on Monday, and Freebee service will also be available to provide convenient access to the event site.Comfort stations for the event are being provided as an in-kind donation by Friendly John.

In addition to hosting the watch party, the City of Coral Gables is proudly showing its support for 
the University of Miami. City Hall has been illuminated in orange and green throughout the week 
and will remain lit through Monday. The Coral Gables Police Department has also placed four 
electronic message signs at major intersections throughout the city displaying “Go Canes!” 
messages.
