Morel Doucet: The Things We Carry Reception

September 24, 2026

Lowe Art Museum, 1301 Stanford Dr., Coral Gables, FL 33146

All are invited for the opening reception of "Morel Doucet: The Things We Carry" on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rooted in the experiences and material culture of the Caribbean diaspora, Morel Doucet’s ceramics, portraits, and mixed-media works explore migration, climate change, cultural memory, and identity. Drawing from his Haitian heritage and Miami upbringing, Doucet transforms vessels, botanical forms, photographs, and found objects into powerful reflections on home, resilience, and the memories, traditions, and ancestral knowledge carried across oceans and generations.

"Morel Doucet: The Things We Carry" is presented in partnership with the City of Coral Gables and sponsored in part by the State of Florida through the Division of Arts and Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts. It was made possible by the City of Coral Gables; Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade Mayor and Board of County Commissioners; the Lowe Advisory Council; Beaux Arts Miami; and Lowe Members.
