Miami Chamber Music Society presents an afternoon of expressive and imaginative piano works as pianist Jack Gao takes the stage at the Sanctuary of the Arts. First prize winner of the 2023 Naumburg International Piano Competition, Gao has been lauded for his “imaginative shadings and textural wizardry” and is quickly establishing himself as one of the most compelling young pianists of his generation. 

The program explores the art of fantasy across time—from Chopin’s poetic etudes, mazurkas, and impromptus to Mozart’s introspective Fantasia in D minor, Scriabin’s mystical Sonata-Fantasy, and Ravel’s haunting Gaspard de la Nuit. Traversing romantic lyricism, impressionist color, and bold harmonic landscapes, Gao’s performance invites listeners into a world shaped by mood, imagination, and timeless musical storytelling.
