Come see an exhibition showcasing images of the historically Bahamian community of Coconut Grove and Coral Gables captured by volunteer photographers at the 2024 Goombay Festival and during a neighborhood photo walk in January 2025. The opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, June 1 at 1 p.m. at  Sanctuary of the Arts the St. Mary Campus—136 Frow Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33133.

This exhibit is the outcome of a 2024 Community Collections Grant from the American Folklife Center of the U.S. Library of Congress awarded to the Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab at Florida International University. It reflects a shared commitment to honoring the history and cultural contributions of Bahamian and Black communities, many of whom, as WLRN highlights, played an instrumental role in building Coral Gables during its early years.
