Sidewalk Safe-Up Measures
The Right-of-Way Division will grind down uplifted sidewalks where feasible. Where grinding is not practical, asphalt will be placed to provide a safe walking surface. These measures are temporary and are intended to ensure sidewalks remain safe and accessible for pedestrians. Sidewalks needing replacement will be added to the ongoing Citywide Sidewalk Replacement Program. Replacement is scheduled based on severity and number of defects within a street block combined with functional density (pedestrian demand), and subject to available funding.
Sidewalk damage resulting from residential construction or trees planted by the property owner may constitute a violation and is subject to Code Enforcement. Additionally, pursuant to City Code, abutting property owners are responsible for the maintenance of their sidewalks: https://library.municode.com/fl/coral_gables/codes/code_of_ordinances
