Downtown Coral Gables Partnership

The Partnership

The City of Coral Gables is moving forward with plans to create a new district to enhance and support its downtown. While the former Business Improvement District (BID) of Coral Gables, Inc. continues as a not-for-profit corporation, it no longer has taxing authority. Under Florida law, only the City can create a district with that authority.

In the meantime, the City’s Economic Development Department has stepped in to fund and coordinate beloved community events such as the upcoming Trick-or-Treat on the Mile celebration, downtown holiday décor and more. The new district — expected to function similarly to the former BID but carry a different name — will be subject to property owner approval under state law.

If you are a local business in the downtown and have questions, please contact Economic Development via email at business@coralgables.com

Roundtable Stakeholder Meetings

The city continues to explore the creation of a Downtown Coral Gables Partnership, a new way for business and property owners to work with the city to keep the downtown active and thriving. The Partnership would help enhance public areas, create programming that attracts visitors, and support the local economy. Your voice matters, participate in a Downtown Stakeholder Roundtable and share your insights on what’s working, what’s not, and ideas for making the downtown more successful for your business.

Roundtable sessions were held Nov. 12–14. Virtual sessions will be held on Monday, Dec. 8 for those that were not able to make the in-person sessions held in November.

Please RSVP for the session that best matches your role.
