Outdoor Dining Permits

To offset the impact of COVID-19 on our business community, for the past two years, the city has permitted restaurants to use the public right-of-way, private property, and city-owned properties to expand their outdoor dining capacity through a Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit. The last day restaurants may use the temporary permit is Aug. 31, 2022.

There are two alternatives for restaurants wishing to obtain approval for outdoor dining: outdoor dining on private property and outdoor dining on the city’s sidewalks, called a sidewalk café permit. The process requires approval from Miami-Dade County's Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER) Department. This approval is a prerequisite before the city’s Development Services Department can issue a final permit.
