The Partnership
The City of Coral Gables is moving forward with plans to create a new district to enhance and support its downtown. While the former Business Improvement District (BID) of Coral Gables, Inc. continues as a not-for-profit corporation, it no longer has taxing authority. Under Florida law, only the City can create a district with that authority.
In the meantime, the City’s Economic Development Department has stepped in to fund and coordinate beloved community events such as the upcoming Trick-or-Treat on the Mile celebration, downtown holiday décor and more. The new district — expected to function similarly to the former BID but carry a different name — will be subject to property owner approval under state law.
If you are a local business in the downtown and have questions, please contact Economic Development via email at business@coralgables.com.
Partnership Overview Flyer [PDF]Stakeholder Survey
The city continues to explore the feasibility of creating a Downtown Coral Gables Partnership. The feasibility process focuses on identifying shared priorities and understanding what enhanced services or improvements would be most valuable for the future of Downtown Coral Gables. This survey is part of a fact-finding process to understand community priorities and assess the level of interest in establishing such a partnership. Your input will help shape what this model could look like, what services it should focus on, and how it might best serve Downtown Coral Gables. Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey and share your thoughts.
Informational Meetings
The City of Coral Gables invites downtown stakeholders to participate in upcoming Informational Sessions on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. During these sessions, attendees will learn about several potential models for a Downtown Coral Gables Partnership district and have the opportunity to share their perspectives.
These sessions are designed to gather stakeholder input—not to present a final recommendation—and your feedback will play an important role in shaping the next phase of this effort.
Stakeholders are encouraged to register and attend the session that best fits their schedule. A Zoom link will be available for participants who are unable to join in person.
We look forward to hearing your insights and continuing this collaborative conversation about the future of Downtown Coral Gables.
