When a Uniform Civil Violation Notice is appealed, the case is scheduled for a Ticket Hearing, which is held the first Tuesday of every other month. A Hearing Officer hears the appeal and renders a decision. The fine may be reduced, removed, or may stand based on the Hearing Officer’s finding. Hearing Officers are required to be attorneys who reside or maintain a business for a minimum of five years within the City. Four Hearing Officers are designated by the City Manager currently under contract, ratified by the City Clerk, to preside over the hearings on a rotating basis. The City is represented by Deputy City Attorney, Cristina Suarez. (Sec. 101-182 City Code)
