Al Zamora joined the City of Coral Gables in October of 2018 as Assistant Public Works Director. Zamora has direct oversight of the Solid Waste Division. The Division services approximately eleven thousand homes a week, has 75 employees, and an annual operating budget of $11.6 million. In addition to his duties, he also serves as the City’s Debris Manager.

 

Zamora has over thirty-five years of management experience in the Solid Waste Industry both in the public and private sector. Prior to joining the City of Coral Gables, Zamora served as the Sanitation Director/ Debris Manager for the City of Miami Beach. for nineteen years. Zamora worked in the private sector holding various management positions prior to transitioning to the public sector.



The Solid Waste Division provides recycling, garbage, and yard waste pickups for approximately 11,000 single-family homes. The Division provides backyard recycling services once a week, backyard garbage services twice a week, and curbside trash collection once a week.

All residential properties receive back door/side door service two days a week. Place your waste in your bins no earlier than the evening before your pick day.

Single family home are issued two 14 gallon containers, in which all recyclable items are collected once per week.

Resident receive one pickup of up to one cubic yard of combine trash (household Refuse and clean Yard Waste) per week.
