Lamar Louise Curry, a Coral Gables Garden Club member, bequeathed $200,000 to the Coral Gables Garden Club to work with the city on a beautification project. Her wish was granted in the form of a new park named in her honor. Located at 2665 DeSoto Boulevard, the park is across from Venetian Pool and is now open to the public.
“This is a living tribute to a long-time and committed club volunteer,” said Susan Rodriguez, club president. “We look forward to unveiling the plaque in her honor and are grateful for Ms. Curry’s generosity.”
The City of Coral Gables Community Recreation Department will be hosting, in conjunction with the Coral Gables Garden Club, a late afternoon ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling for the park on October 15. Light Refreshments and small bites will be served.
