Dockless Scooter Share
Dockless Scooter Share, also known as the Dockless Mobility Program, refers to a new type of shared mobility that allows users to unlock, rent, and ride bikes, electric bikes, and electric scooters from virtually anywhere using a smartphone application. Dockless bikes and scooters are stored within the right-of-way out of the way of pedestrians, parked cars, or other users, ready to be rented by the next rider. Dockless scooters are currently staged on Miracle Mile intersections and nearby streets, near Douglas and UM Metro Stations, and in other locations around the city. At this time, only Bird and Spin are permitted to stage their devices in Coral Gables. Currently there are 220 scooters staged throughout the City.
Scooters in Coral Gables have a top speed of 15 mph to ensure efficient, yet safe, transportation throughout the City. Users must be 18yrs or older to operate the scooters. Tandem riding on scooters is strictly prohibited.
While the scooters will be welcomed and encouraged throughout Coral Gables, certain areas will be deemed ‘No Ride Zones’ due to an increased amount of pedestrian activity.
These no ride zones include: sidewalks on Miracle Mile, sidewalks three blocks north and south of Miracle Mile on Ponce De Leon Blvd, Giralda Plaza, and the City parking garages.
If a scooter enters a no ride zone it will be forced to slow down and the throttle will not accelerate. Users will also receive an audible warning. Users will need to walk the scooters back outside of the no-ride zones.
When dropping off devices, they should be:
