PART-TIME EMPLOYEE QUATERLY RECOGNITION AWARD POLICY

PURPOSE:

To recognize an exceptional regular part-time employee on a quarterly basis. The employee selected will exemplify the City of Coral Gables Mission – “To honor our history by providing exceptional services that enhance the quality of life for our community”.

ELIGIBILITY:

All City of Coral Gables regular (year-round) part-time employees are eligible to be nominated for the Part-Time Employee Quarterly Recognition Award with the exception of the following:

  • Temporary or seasonal employees
  • Part-Time Employees who have previously been selected to receive the Part-Time

Employee Quarterly Recognition Award within the occurring fiscal year.


NOMINATIONS/SELECTION:

Nominations can be submitted by City of Coral Gables Directors, employees or residents. These nominations can be submitted electronically through either the City of Coral Gables Website, or the City’s Intranet website. In addition, nominations may be submitted to Human Resources in memo form. Mailed nominations must be placed in a sealed envelope marked “confidential” and mailed to Human Resources.

Once a nomination is received, the Employee of the Month Coordinator (from the Department of Human Resources) will review each nomination to confirm eligibility. If the nomination meets with the City’s criteria, it will be presented to an Evaluation Committee (Committee is composed of members who evaluate the full-time Employee of the Month program along with at least two regular part-time status employees who wish to volunteer)for review and consideration. Eligible nominations will then be forwarded to the City Manager for final selection.

Nominations will be considered for a total of three (3) consecutive months. If selected, the part-time employee and director will be notified and a letter acknowledging their selection will be sent to the part-time employee with a copy placed in their personnel file.

DEADLINES:

Nominations may be submitted at any time, but should be submitted by the following deadlines to be considered for the earliest fiscal quarter possible:

  • First Quarter nominations (for the months of October to December) – due by first Friday of December (Award to be announced in January)

  • Second Quarter nominations (for months of January to March) - due by first Friday of
    March (Award to be announced in April)
  • Third Quarter nominations (for the months of April to June)- due by first Friday of June (Award to be announced in July)
  • Fourth Quarter nominations (for months of July to September) – due by first Friday of September (Award to be announced in October)

RECOGNITION:

The selected candidate for the Part-Time Employee Quarterly Recognition Award will be recognized at the second commission meetings held during the months of January, April, July and October. The selected part-time employees will receive a plaque of recognition and will be issued a check in the amount of $200.00. A video showcasing the employee and their Director will also be shown during this presentation. In addition, a photograph of the employee will be displayed in City Hall for the duration of the quarter and later given to the employee.
