Diana Gomez joined the City of Coral Gables as Finance Director in
October 2011. In this role, she oversees the City’s finances
including accounting and reporting, budget preparation and
administration, procurement and capital plan development, as
well as pension administration. She serves as a key member of the
City’s leadership team with direct responsibility for the effective
implementation of citywide strategic initiatives and serves as an
advisor to the City Manager on fiscal issues.
Gomez has more than 20-years of experience in public and
government accounting, including financial and administrative
management. Prior to joining Coral Gables, she served as Finance
Director for the City of Miami for five years. She began her career
with Miami as Assistant Finance Director and Comptroller in 2001.
A graduate of Rutgers University, she received a Bachelor of Arts
in Psychology. She also holds a Master of Business Administration
in Professional Accounting from the University of Baltimore. Gomez is a Certified State of Florida Public Accountant, Certified
Government Financial Officer (CGFO), and a Certified Public
Pension Trustee (CPPT). Additionally, she serves as the Trustee to
the City of Coral Gables Retirement Board where she is also a
voting member and is Vice-Chair of the Sunshine State
Governmental Financing Commission.
The Finance Department safeguards the fiscal integrity of the City, reports accurate and timely financial information to the City Commission, the City Manager and the public, and provides financial management and record-keeping support to all the City departments to enable them to carry out their duties efficiently.
