Lost & Found Pets

The City of Coral Gables does not provide animal care services. Miami-Dade County Animal Services is the agency charged with the responsibility of enforcing Chapter 5 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, as well as Florida Statute 828, which deals primarily with animal cruelty issues.

If you’ve lost your pet in Coral Gables, it is recommended that you search websites such as:

Important Pet Information

If you’re looking to adopt a pet, there are several places you can find the perfect cat or dog waiting for you ready to become a member of your family.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami is an adoption facility dedicated to placing every dog and cat in its care into a loving home.

Miami-Dade County Animal Services also has an Adopt-a-Pet program. You can view adoptable pets by visiting county animal shelters.

Once you’ve brought a new pet to your home, it is important to obtain the required license tag which they should wear at all times.

All dogs, cats, and ferrets that are four months of age or older are required to be vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian against rabies. They also need to be revaccinated 12 months after the initial vaccination.

You can also microchip your pet which will give your pet the voice they don’t have. Microchips are tiny capsules that are inserted under your pet’s skin which contain a unique identification number that links you and your pet.
