Pilates Mat Class

Mondays, 10 a.m. 

Pilates is an exercise method of body conditioning designed to strengthen mind and body creating a strong core and lean muscles. This class will focus on learning and perfecting the fundamental movements and techniques. This class is suitable for beginners but also great for the intermediate student allowing them to enhance their movements. Bring a mat, towel and comfortable shoes!

Pilates at the AAC

Line Dancing
Mondays, 11:15 a.m.
Gain confidence by learning the basic line dance steps. Line dancing is a choreographed dance with repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows moving in different directions. Join Fitness Coordinator, Maria Fleites, as we have fun, challenging your brain while learning new patterns and routines losing ourselves in the music!

Life in Motion
Mondays, 12:30 p.m.
Thursdays 12:30 p.m.
This fitness class with fitness coordinator, Maria, uses low impact dynamic movements that improve physical strength, posture, balance, coordination, and brain health.

Knitting, Crochet, Embroidery and Scrapbooking 
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Let your creativity flow! In this class you can get crafty whether that is knitting, crochet, and embroidery. Bring a project to class and finish it here or you can start up a new project. All levels are welcomed.

Scrapbook is a way of preserving, presenting, arranging personal and family history in the form of a book, a card or a photo album. Enjoying creating a beautiful keepsake of your past for future generations.

Drawing and Painting
Mondays, 10:30 a.m.

Find your "Artist Self" and enjoy the basics of pencil drawing and acrylic painting at the AAC.

Tai Chi
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m.
Practice the internal ancient Chinese martial art of balance, memory, strength, and peace. Patrons may also participate in the class by sitting in a chair for a modified version of Tai Chi

Total Body Conditioning (TBC)
Tuesday and Thursdays, 10 a.m.

Progressive full body workout with a focus on toning and resistance training of all muscle’s groups. This class will focus on cardio, strength, stability, and flexibility. Participants always have the option to modify range in motion and resistance. Participants should have the ability to work on and off the floor. Bring a mat, fitness weights provided.

TBC Valentine's Day Class

Support Group for Retired Members
Meets first Tuesday of each Month 11 a.m.

The objective of this group consists in helping members who have retired to find a meaning to their lives now that they don't work any longer. The group will include theory, activities and homework. Members will be enticed to discuss the issues they face at this stage of their lives. Join us as we also discuss the Complete Guide to Senior Health and Wellness too

Advanced Bridge
Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Led by Coral Gables first accredited bridge instructor. The game of bridge is an exceptional mental stimulation for your brain. Build upon the play of the hand and expand your knowledge. Previous experience and knowledge of the game is required.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:15 a.m. 
It's a calorie - burning dance fitness party. Zumba takes the "work" out of workout, by combining high energy and motivating music with interval style workout. Try this aerobic workout that pushes endurance and tones the entire body. Sweat with a smile.

English Conversation 
Tuesdays, 12:30 p.m.

Strengthen your English listening and speaking skills each week with one of our AAC volunteers.

Embracing Aging
Tuesdays, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
With volunteer Wendy Kadushin, Ph.D. Group discussion topics include but not limited to aging in America, depression and anxiety, loss and grief, relationships and family.

Baton Twirling
Wednesdays, 10 a.m.

Come to learn the basic marches and twirls, it's easier than you think! Please bring your baton if you have one.

French Conversation

Join AAC volunteer and practice the language of love. Participants must be able to converse in French

Meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Pickle Ball
Wednesday and Friday's from 2 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Pickleball's growing popularity can't be denied! It is on the the fastest growing sports in the country. Join the AAC in a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. 

Participants must REGISTER for each day they wish to play pickleball at the AAC. SPACE is LIMITED and fills up quickly, be sure to register early.

The MS Amigos
2nd Thursday of each month, 4:30 p.m.

MS Amigos works to improve the quality of life for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Central and Southern Florida and brings awareness for critical MS research. Join the movement toward a world free of MS. Looking for a way to get to know others and share ongoing support? Join our group that meets the second Thursday of each month with Maria Zaldivar.

Barre Intensity Class
Fridays. 10 a.m.

The Barre Intensity Class is a total body workout that leaves you mentally strong and feeling accomplished.  It fuses Pilates, dance and functional fitness training. 

This Barre classes incorporates the following: Small, isolated movement to fatigue the muscles, large range of motion to elevate the heart rate and sequences that incorporate upper and lower body

Arts, Crafts and Conversations
Fridays, 10:30 a.m.

Be creative with our arts and crafts class! Instructor will present a possible project each week. Students may work on this or other projects. Suggested discussion topics will be proposed each week. This class provides a creative outlet for our 50+ adults that stimulate the mind.

La Comunidad Escucha Y Apoya, (The Community Listens and Supports)
Meets the first and fourth Friday of each month, 11 a.m.

No tienes que renunciar a algo, pero hay que estar dispuesto a: estar cuando se necesita, escuchar, no aislarnos, manejar el conflicto, considerando que las necesidades de TODOS son importantes. Nunca dudes que un grupo de personas reflexivas y comprometidas pueda cambiar el mundo. Realmente es lo unico que alguna vez lo ha hecho. (You don’t have to give up something, but you have to be willing to: be there when needed, listen, not isolate ourselves, handle conflict, considering that EVERYONE’s needs are important. Never doubt that a group of thoughtful and committed people can change the world. It really is the only thing that ever has.)

Game Day

Each week participants will get to choose the games they wish to play. Games include Mahjong, Rummikub, Phase 10, and etc.

Brain Gym 
Fridays, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Introducing "BETTER MEMORY BASICS." This course targets auditory and visual memory working (short-term) memory and processing speed. Think of it as a personal gym, where you exercise your memory, attention, brain speed, people skills, intelligence and navigation instead of your abs, bi-ceps, and quads. Just as our bodies require care and exercise over the course of life, so do our brains—especially as we age. Brain Gym provides the exercise your brain needs to be at its sharpest.
