Eduardo “Ed” Santamaria was appointed to the position of Assistant City Manager for Operations and Infrastructure on November 2018. As the Assistant City Manager for Operations and Infrastructure he oversees Public Works, Development Services, Parking, Economic Development, Community Recreation, Historical Resources and Cultural Arts.

Assistant City Manager Santamaria joined the City of Coral Gables as the Director of Public Works in September 2016. As Director he was responsible for the oversight of the following divisions: Sanitation, Landscape Services, Engineering, Transportation & Sustainability, Facilities Maintenance, Utilities, Right-of-Way Maintenance and Automotive Divisions. Mr. Santamaria supervised over 200 full time employees engaged in the daily delivery of essential and often highly visible public services.

Prior to joining the City of Coral Gables, Assistant City Manager Santamaria served as the Public Works Director for the City of Miami where, with a Departmental budget of $80MM, he was responsible for the planning, oversight, and management of Miami’s vast infrastructure needs and public right-of-way related engineering functions, including land surveying. He also served as the City of Miami’s Supervisor of Plats with direct oversight of the technical aspects of the subdivision of land within Miami’s municipal boundaries. Assistant City Manager Santamaria has more than 25 years of responsible project management, engineering, and construction experience. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida International University and is a registered State of Florida Professional Engineer, a State of Florida Certified General Contractor, and a certified LEED AP.
