Youth Director's Council and Summer Programs

The Youth Director’s Council (YDC) is a youth leadership program for ages 12 to 18 that is based on community service. Participants in the Youth Director’s Council receive training on such topics as empathy, leadership, citizenship, public speaking, financial responsibility, character, and other related topics.

The members of the YDC elect their own executive board. The board is responsible for choosing, organizing, and managing projects. During 2022, members of the Coral Gables YDC logged more than 2160 hours of community service.

Members of our Coral Gables Youth Director’s Council have also been chosen to represent our area on the state level on the Youth Advisory Council and the Youth Conference Committee, sponsored by the State of Florida Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues, Inc. (Florida PAL) Our YDC members also work with other local PAL YDC groups on larger community projects.

The Coral Gables Police Athletic League's Camps offer youth the opportunity to interact with police officers in a positive way. We attempt to serve a wide range of youth with our programs and all camps are conducted by Coral Gables police officers.  The interaction creates a positive experience for the campers with police officers that can have a lasting effect on their attitudes toward law enforcement.  These camps are offered for a small fee to all participants.  Lunch is provided and the camps are not limited to the residents of Coral Gables.
