The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin construction of a roadway improvement project on Monday, May 21st. Improvements will take place on Red Road from SW 8 Street to Coral Way. This project will cost an estimated $3.8 million and will last approximately 11 months. FDOT will hold a public information meeting to discuss the project on Tuesday, May 15th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the City of West Miami Community Center, 901 SW 62 Avenue.
The project will include resurfacing Red Road, constructing sidewalks, installing decorative lighting and bike lanes, and planting new trees, among other improvements. At times, it will be necessary to close travel lanes. Work will be done in stages and lane closures will be scheduled to avoid traffic congestions. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
