Posted Date: 1/30/2013

The City of Coral Gables is pleased to announce the opening of “New Art for the New Year,” an exhibition to celebrate some of the best artwork from Coral Gables galleries, all conveniently located at the Coral Gables Museum. The opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. Art lovers can experience high-quality art and the opportunity to mingle with gallery owners. The exhibition will run until February 7, 2013.

“Art has been always been at the heart of Coral Gables. This event builds on the success of Gallery Night, and we’re delighted to support this collaboration and to bring a focus to the galleries that are a vibrant and highly valued part of the community and the City’s culture,” said Mayor Jim Cason.

The show will feature a variety of select Latin American, Cuban, European and American paintings, mixed-media and sculptural works from the following galleries:
• ArtSight Gallery
• ArtSpace Virginia Miller Galleries
• The Americas Collection
• Ca' D'Oro Gallery
• Casa Turquesa
• Cernuda Fine Art Gallery
• Collage Gallery - Fundacion Artistas Unidos
• H. Benitez Fine Art Gallery
• Jorge M. Sori Fine Art
• JSK Architectural Group
• Klara Chavarria Contemporary Art

The show is being curated by art veteran and appraiser, Denise Gerson, former associate director of the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum. “I was thrilled to be invited to work on this exhibition,” said Gerson. “Art is for everyone, and the Coral Gables’ art scene has set itself apart by enduring the test of time, and by offering local and international enthusiasts an unparalleled level of exciting new artwork, knowledge, and experience.”
