The City’s small but powerful television station, Coral Gables Television (CGTV), has been nominated for a 2012 Emmy Award by the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
The Suncoast Emmy Awards are given to television markets in the entire state of Florida, Alexandria, Baton Route, Lafayette, Lake Charles and New Orleans, Louisiana, Mobile, Alabama, Thomasville, Georgia and Puerto Rico.
CGTV was nominated in the Education/Schools Program category for its Spanish production of “Alas de Esperanza” (Wings of Hope), an inspiring 14-minute profile of the Merrick Educational Center, a school in Coral Gables providing dedicated teachers for students with special needs. This television program, produced entirely by CGTV staff, is just one example of the station’s strong commitment to communicate with the City’s growing Hispanic audience. The Suncoast Emmy Awards banquet will take place on December 1 in Fort Lauderdale. To view the Emmy-nominated program, click here.
