The City of Coral Gables is pursuing a productive dialogue with Florida Power and Light (FPL) to address concerns about infrastructure upgrades to our electric grid.
At the October 24th City Commission Meeting, four members of the Commission (Commissioner Quesada recused himself due to a conflict of interest) reiterated that the ultimate goal is to protect residents from future storms and request FPL to comply with their contractual obligations as per the franchise agreement. The most recent storm exposed that the City of Coral Gables and FPL are not on the same page.
Only if these talks fail, the Commission agreed to pursue a legal claim against FPL. To watch the City Commission discussion, click here.
