Bassoon professor Luciano Magnanini plans to retire from teaching soon, and Festival Miami celebrates his storied career with an inspiring chamber music concert titled affectionately, Luciano and Friends. The program features Camille Saint-Saëns’s Sonata for bassoon and piano; Ludwig van Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds; Francis Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Wind Quintet; Bill Douglas’s Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano; Ástor Piazzolla’s Tango for flute, bassoon and piano; and the premiere of Stephen Guerra’s Sights and Sounds for woodwind quintet, alto saxophone, and piano.
