Art Programs for Adults
Registration Dates

Art programs will use materials that may stain clothing, please dress appropriately.
 
Don’t wait until the last minute to register. A required minimum number of participants must register prior to the start date of each class.

ART COMBO
(For home-schooled children)
Ages 6-14 years old
(Separated in groups by age)

Enjoy a perfect combination of fine arts/crafts all at once. This class is designed to introduce children to the fine art masters by creating craft projects that explore different styles and periods in art. Children will learn about the elements of design such as: line, color, texture, etc as they explore different media. Painting, drawing, papier maché and more will open the doors to creativity and endless fun. Please note: Even though this class teaches the same background information to all ages, projects will be adapted to better fit the developmental stages of the varying ages.

FINE ARTS
Ages 6-14 years old
(Separated in groups by age)

This program is offered to children that have above average interest and ability in the visual arts. It is designed to introduce children to Fine Art painters and their paintings and to develop two and three dimensional skills in a disciplined and progressive manner. By working with a variety of painting media, the class emphasizes the skills needed in creating the project rather than the project itself.

ARTS & CRAFTS
Ages 3-14 years old
(Separated in groups by age)

Fun and creative! These classes will focus on the crafty side of art. Age appropriate projects will explore a variety of materials used in weaving, paper maché, jewelry making, wood finishes and more. Holiday themes and special occasions serve as inspiration for the projects selected for these classes.

CERAMICS
Ages 3-14 years old
(Separated in groups by age)

Working with clay is a magical experience that all children should have the opportunity to experience. Clay is a great learning tool that is flexible to the imagination and rich in motor skill challenges. When appropriate, our young artists will be introduced to the basics of clay and glazing techniques. Classes and projects are tailored to the individual age group.

TODDLER ART

Brought to you by the European Academy of Music and Arts. Young children are natural artists! This class will allow our young artist the opportunity to enhance fine motor skills by using the various materials of art. A different theme will be introduced each week with three or four projects that may include cutting, pasting, ripping, drawing, and painting.

Since all this work can build up an appetite each class will include a fun snack that the kids will prepare themselves.

Remember, it’s the process, not the product that counts...and come dressed for hands-on artistic fun!

YOUNG AT ART
Ages 4-6 years old
(Separated in groups by age)

Children will enjoy the arts and crafts explorations from around the world. Make paper tube binoculars and pretend you are in an African safari. Climb under a table and make some cave paintings on a rock.

With the child’s imagination and guidance from the instructor the world, through art, is awaiting their discovery.

BEAD IT!
Ages 13-17 years old

Beading is a fun, creative and possibly profitable hobby. A great class for beginners, basic stringing, wire and finishing techniques will be demonstrated as you create your own necklace, bracelet, earrings, phone charms and much more.

LANDSCAPE/BOTANICAL
OIL PAINTING

With Amy Kutell
Ages 18 years old and above

Have a picture of a beautiful Florida sunset or the countryside of one of your favorite vacation destinations? This 8”X 10” photo will be used as a guide to create your own oil interpretation of that landscape.

As you use and explore the various oil techniques, you will be instructed on composition and color exploration while learning life-long painting skills from our local Coral Gables artist Amy Kutell.

Pottery
Ages 13-17 years old

Learn how to use a potter’s wheel. Throwing is an exciting aspect of the ceramics spectrum. Create your own art pieces as you learn the basic techniques of throwing and glazing. This is a great opportunity to create some priceless holiday gifts for friends and family.

THE ART OF FUNCTION
Wheel-Thrown & Hand-Built Pottery
Ages 18 years old and above

Make sometime for yourself and learn the art of ceramics and wheel thrown pottery!

This introductory class emphasizes hand building techniques of ceramics while introducing the basics of wheel thrown pottery. You will create unique, glazed art pieces crafted by your own hands to keep or share with family and friends.

Firing is included in the cost of the class and clay should be purchased at the time of registration.

Wheels are limited. To learn the techniques of wheel thrown pottery, register early and reserve your wheel. Wheels are available on a first come first serve basis.

FAUX FINISHES WORKSHOP

Faux Finishing is a great way to bring new life to a treasured piece of furniture or room in your home.
Learn some fun and useful faux finish painting techniques in this four-week workshop.

Join Amy as she instructs you on different painting techniques such as sponging and ragging, wood grain finish, marbleizing, and dragging. Learn how to apply these finishing techniques to furniture, accessories or walls.
